Two Hundred Year Old Grave, Savannah, October 2007 - Sony Cybershot
Ancient graveyards are like church to me. A place to be silent and reverential. This graveyard is over three hundred years old and many of the tombstones I could not read, as wind and weather had worn smooth their surfaces. But this one stopped me. A child's grave.
Ghostly, indeed.

this is exceptionally spooky! i think it's the way you colored the image! gave me goose bumps ... what a fab entry for GHOSTLY!!
Oh Chris, this is beautiful, haunting and so touching all at the same time! You've done a wonderful job of capturing this week's theme!!♥♥
Luthien - Thank you! I almost left is full color, but the green grass just seemed too cheerful for a graveyard.
Sharon - Thanks! I still get chills when I look at this photo.
This is beautiful, melancholy and intruiging - great image!
artangel: Thank you. Melancholy is a good word for it. I had hoped it wouldn't be too sad.
perfect!!! it needed to be just this way...no color!
pat860 - Thank you!
I went to Savannah this summer specifically to visit some of the cemeteries. I agree -- they're places that have a sense of sacredness.
What a stunning photograph.
Christina: Thank you! I spent three days in Savannah but could spend 300. The historic district is just filled with amazing places.
